Carney lands in Australia; PS Fortier heads to Rome, Italy Tuesday


Looking to Tuesday's events, in Sydney and Canberra, Australia, Prime Minister Mark Carney (Nepean, Ont.) will meet with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese to expand cooperation on defence and maritime security, critical minerals, trade and advanced technologies. Carney will also deliver an address to both Houses of Australia’s Parliament and meet business leaders and investors to attract new capital to Canada.

In Rome, Italy, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs Mona Fortier (Ottawa—Vanier, Ont.) will attend the Arctic Circle Rome Forum from March 3-4 where she will discuss Arctic security, economic development and diplomacy with international leaders.

Back in Canada, in Halifax, N.S., Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Innovation and Minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario Evan Solomon (Toronto Centre, Ont.), joined by Liberal MP Shannon Miedema (Halifax, N.S.), will announce support for organizations driving AI innovation and adoption across multiple sectors at Volta, 1800 Argyle St., Unit 801. Later in the evening, Solomon will join Liberal MP Braedon Clark (Sackville--Bedford--Preston, N.B.) for a a party fundraiser hosted by the Sackville–Bedford–Preston Federal Liberal Association at Freeman’s, 552 Sackville Dr.

In Toronto, Ont., Minister of Transport and Leader of the Government in the House of Commons Steven MacKinnon (Gatineau, Que.) will highlight federal priorities aimed at strengthening Canada's transportation system, reinforcing supply chains and supporting economic growth, joined by Minister of Crown-Indigenous Relations Rebecca Alty (Northwest Territories) and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Northern and Arctic Affairs Brendan Hanley (Yukon), at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, Northern Lights Learning Hub – North Building, 255 Front Street W.

Also in Toronto, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Tim Hodgson (Markham-Thornhill, Ont.) will announce investments in Canadian critical minerals at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, 222 Bremner Blvd. 

And in Winnipeg, Man., Minister of Industry and Quebec Economic Development Mélanie Joly (Ahuntsic-Cartierville, Que.) will join Minister of Northern and Arctic Affairs, and responsible for the Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency Rebecca Chartrand (Churchill-Keewatinook Aski, Man.), Manitoba Premier Wab Kinew, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Indigenous Services Ginette Lavack (St. Boniface—St. Vital, Man.) and Liberal MP Ben Carr (Winnipeg South Centre, Man.) at a ribbon-cutting ceremony marking the official opening of the All-Canadian Build facility at New Flyer. This evening, Joly and Chartrand will attend a party fundraiser hosted by the Churchill–Keewatinook Aski Federal Liberal Association at the Fort Garry Hotel, 222 Broadway.
