Carleton University psychology professor Andrea Howard is available to discuss the federal government’s proposed digital safety legislation, which would ban social media use by children under 16 unless platforms meet specified safety standards. Howard’s research focuses on adolescent well-being and health-related behaviours, and examines common assumptions about youth, including claims regarding the impacts of smartphones and social media.
