QUOTE OF THE DAY:
Mr. Speaker, the CSN is adding its voice to the Assembly of First Nations. It even joins a few Liberal MPs and, no doubt, a few ministers who prefer to remain silent. They are the ones we are addressing as the vote approaches. Bill C‑5 makes it possible to circumvent all environmental measures and suspend nearly all legislation by order in council. It is the most authoritarian bill since the Emergencies Act. Will the ministers who disagree have the courage to oppose it before it is too late?
Government Priorities - Conservatives noted the PBO report on the new middle class tax cut, questioned the government on the new tax cut; Bloc MPs raised concerns about Bill C-5, called for proper parliament study of the Bill before passing it at third reading
The Environment - Bloc MPs raised concerns about Bill C-5 and environmental assessments
Finance - Conservative MPs questioned the government on the new middle class tax cut, and called for a budget
Health - Conservatives questioned the government on recognizing the credentials of international doctors to reduce the doctor shortage; Conservative MPs raised concerns about childhood obesity rates
Taxation - Conservatives noted the PBO report on the new middle class tax cut, questioned the government on much Canadians will actually save
Public Safety - Conservatives raised concerns about fentanyl use and violent crimes towards frontline workers, called for bail reform; Conservatives also raised concerns about organized crime and mass fentanyl production labs, called for sentencing for life; Conservatives questioned the government on catch-and-release laws, and called for the repeal of C-75
Steel and Aluminum Industry - Liberal MPs asked for an update on measures to support producers during the U.S. tariffs
Housing - Conservative MPs raised concerns about low housing starts, questioned the government on its affordable housing plans
